The Minns Labor Government has awarded more than $290,000 to 11 organisations across New South Wales to celebrate women’s achievements and empower them to seize new opportunities during 2026 Women’s Week.
Activities range from bush walks and art exhibitions to support growing a business and professional development. For example, Canterbury City Community Centre’s initiative will support culturally and linguistically diverse women wishing to establish or grow their homebased business.
Seven organisations will be running activities in regional NSW. This includes Red Chief Local Aboriginal Land Council’s Gunnedah Women’s Empowerment Week event which will engage Aboriginal women and girls through cultural workshops, storytelling, art and leadership panels, with the goal of promoting cultural pride and leadership in local women and girls.
The NSW Government is building better communities where women and girls can achieve their potential and thrive. The NSW Women’s Strategy is focused on boosting women’s health and wellbeing, economic opportunity and advancement.
Women’s Week Grants have been running since 2018 to fund innovative events that empower women and girls to participate in our communities, to advance gender equality in the longer term.
NSW Women’s Week, which runs from Monday 2 March 2026 to International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March 2026, is an annual showcase of the stories and remarkable achievements of women in our state. The NSW Government’s Women of the Year Awards at the International Convention Centre is the culmination of the week-long celebrations and will be held in Sydney on Thursday 5 March 2026.

“2026 funded activities focus on empowering women, supporting their health and wellbeing, and encouraging their entrepreneurial spirit.
“We want to engage women from all walks of life, especially those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, those from the LGBTIQA+ community, women with a disability and women from rural, regional and remote NSW.
“I encourage everyone to get involved in the events that are planned in your communities.”
