Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—On Friday 9 August, the best of Australia's education system was celebrated at the seventh annual Australian Education Awards—and I am thrilled to report that the Charlestown electorate's own Hunter Sports High was named both Secondary School of the Year in the government schools division and Australian School of the Year! This recognition isn't surprising to those of us familiar with the work done by the amazing team of educators and administrators at Hunter Sports High. Under the leadership of principal Rachel Byrne, who was recognised as an excellence awardee in the School Principal of the Year – Government at the Awards, Hunter Sports High has gone from strength to strength. Award-winning, sector-leading and trailblazing programs have helped elevate students to new levels, while academic achievement and community engagement go hand-in-hand with the school's excellence in sport. I am so proud to see a school in my electorate of Charlestown undertake this important and ongoing work, and to have it recognised on such a grand stage. Congratulations once again to Hunter Sports High on this wonderful achievement. Keep up the fantastic work.
