Cameron & Michelle Turner

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Cameron and Michelle Turner for honouring the memory of their beloved daughter Florence through an inspiring initiative that is bringing support to families facing childhood cancer. Following Florence's heartbreaking 13-month battle with paediatric brain cancer, Cameron and Michelle established Flo's Day, an annual fundraiser celebrating their daughter's life while giving back to the community that supported them through their most difficult days. During Florence's illness, the Turner family received invaluable practical and financial assistance from Sleapy's Foundation. Through Flo's Day, Cameron and Michelle are giving back to the foundation, helping ensure other families navigating childhood cancer can access the same compassion, care and support they received. Their generosity will help Sleapy's Foundation continue providing financial relief, practical assistance and meaningful experiences for individuals and families affected by cancer. Cameron and Michelle's extraordinary strength and selflessness in the face of unimaginable loss are a powerful reflection of the compassion and generosity that make our Newcastle community so special. I commend Cameron and Michelle for creating such a beautiful legacy in Florence's memory and for their commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
