Charlestown Rotary Club- Marathon

04 June 2026

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise the Charlestown Rotary Club for its contribution to the recent Newcastle Marathon and for the important role its members continue to play in supporting community events across our region. Major events such as the Newcastle Marathon rely on the dedication of volunteers who generously give their time to help ensure participants, spectators and organisers can enjoy a safe and successful experience. The Charlestown Rotary Club was proud to be part of this year's event, with 14 members volunteering as race marshals throughout the day. Their efforts helped support the smooth operation of the marathon, assisting runners and organisers while contributing to the welcoming and community‑focused atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the event. With hundreds of participants taking part across the various race categories, the contribution of local volunteers was invaluable. Beyond the practical assistance provided on the day, the involvement of organisations such as the Charlestown Rotary Club reflects the strong community spirit that exists throughout the Newcastle region. I thank the members of the Charlestown Rotary Club for their service and congratulate them on their contribution to another successful Newcastle Marathon.
