Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise the outstanding efforts of local emergency services personnel who recently participated in the annual Emergency Services Blood Drive, a national initiative that highlights the spirit of service that extends far beyond the frontline. Running from 1 May to 31 July, the Emergency Services Blood Drive brings emergency service agencies together in a friendly competition to encourage blood donations and help meet the ongoing needs of Australian patients. I would particularly like to acknowledge Inspector Lisa Jones from Lake Macquarie Police District for coordinating the Newcastle-area donation effort and encouraging colleagues from across the Hunter to get involved. Her leadership helped bring together emergency services personnel in support of this important cause. I also recognise Lake Macquarie Police District Commander Superintendent Tracy Chapman APM and Newcastle City Police District Commander Superintendent Kylie Endemi APM, who led by example through their support of the campaign and their own blood donations. The willingness of these officers to give their time and donate blood demonstrates the commitment our emergency services personnel show to the community every day. I thank Inspector Jones, Superintendent Chapman and Superintendent Endemi for their contribution to this important initiative.
