Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to celebrate the success of this year's Float Your Boat event, which lit up the shores of Lake Macquarie on the winter solstice with its biggest crowd yet. Now in its eighth year, Float Your Boat has become a much-loved community tradition, bringing colour, creativity and joy to the longest night of the year. Dozens of brilliantly decorated boats made their way in a glowing flotilla from Belmont to Warners Bay, delighting onlookers along the way. This year's designs were some of the most imaginative yet, featuring everything from a bright yellow submarine and the iconic Batman signal to a majestic humpback whale and Fred Flintstone cruising with his pet dinosaur. Each vessel reflected the talent and enthusiasm of the local community, lighting up the lake with bold colours and neon lights. Despite the winter chill, the community spirit was stronger than ever. Families gathered in parks and along the foreshore to enjoy the show and support local creativity. Float Your Boat is a wonderful reminder of what makes our region special. Congratulations to all involved for putting on such a spectacular and uplifting event.
