Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—Hunter Sports High School's GEM Academy has achieved a wonderful milestone, winning the People's Choice Award at the Living Smart Festival's School Garden Bed Competition for the third consecutive year. The award recognises the creativity, dedication and teamwork of students in the Ruby class, who worked alongside Mrs Gilmore and Mrs Cottrill to bring their garden bed to life. From designing and planting to watering, mulching and incorporating sustainable features, the students were involved in every stage of the project. Their garden bed was not only a beautiful display, but a reflection of the valuable hands-on learning taking place within the GEM Academy. Projects like this provide young people with opportunities to develop practical skills, explore their creativity and take pride in something they have created together. Winning the People's Choice Award for three consecutive years is a particularly special achievement, reflecting the enthusiasm and care the students bring to their work. I warmly congratulate the Ruby class, Mrs Gilmore, Mrs Cottrill and everyone involved in the GEM Academy on this well-deserved recognition. Their achievement is a wonderful example of how creativity, sustainability and teamwork can flourish through learning beyond the traditional classroom.
