Graham Brooks

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—Strong communities are built by people who generously give their time to support others, often without seeking recognition or reward. One such volunteer is Graham Brooks from South Cardiff Community Football Club, whose dedication and commitment have had a lasting impact on players, families and fellow club members over many years. Through countless hours spent coaching, mentoring and supporting the club, Graham has helped create an environment where young people can develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy the many benefits of community sport. Graham's contribution was recently recognised when he was named Northern NSW Football and Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month for May. In a fitting tribute to someone who prefers to work quietly behind the scenes, Graham was surprised by a gathering of committee members, players, parents, former committee members and families who came together to celebrate his achievement. This recognition reflects not only Graham's dedication to South Cardiff Community Football Club, but also the important role volunteers play across our community every day. I congratulate Graham on this well-deserved recognition and thank him for his outstanding service to local sport and our community.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
