Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—The Hunter Academy of Sport has celebrated another outstanding year of sporting achievement at its 2026 Awards Night, recognising the dedication, talent and accomplishments of athletes, coaches, managers and volunteers across the region. The annual awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and commitment of young athletes who continue to excel in their chosen sports, alongside the people who support their development. Among this year's award recipients was Oscar Schneeweiss, who was named the Aussie Rules Individual Athlete of the Year in recognition of his achievements and dedication to the sport. Jada Capriotti was also recognised for her outstanding achievements, receiving the Indigenous Program Rising Star Award and being named the UAA Indigenous Athlete of the Year. These awards are a wonderful acknowledgement of the talent and determination of young athletes across the Hunter, and the opportunities provided by the Academy to help them reach their potential. I congratulate Oscar, Jada and all those recognised at this year's awards, and commend the Hunter Academy of Sport's coaches, managers and volunteers for their ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of local sporting talent.
