Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to recognise Olivia Hughes for recently being named the 2025 Westfield Kotara Local Hero, receiving a $20,000 grant to support the organisation she represents, Nobbys Surf Life Saving Club. Under Olivia's leadership, the Little Rippaz program has flourished, providing children and young people with disabilities the opportunity to learn about beach safety in an inclusive and supportive environment. Having volunteered with the program for six years, Olivia took on full responsibility for running it in 2024, extending its length and increasing the number of participants so more families could be involved. Her passion for inclusion and community spirit are evident in everything she does. In addition to running Little Rippaz, Olivia volunteers as a lifeguard and first aid officer, serves as an ambassador for Host-a-Surfer and Girls Day Out, and has raised more than $10,000 for water safety and surf-related charities. The $20,000 grant will go toward accessible beach matting for wheelchair users and others with mobility needs, helping ensure everyone can safely enjoy the beach. Olivia's dedication is an inspiration to her club I'd like to once again congratulate her for her recent award.
