Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—Pheonix Taylor showed extraordinary courage and care for others when he responded to a devastating house fire in Swansea. Pheonix was among a group of nine carpentry apprentices from Belmont TAFE who were nearby when they saw the fire. As some of the first people at the scene, they immediately went into action and did everything they could to help those inside. Without shoes or protective equipment, Pheonix and the other young men put their own safety at risk as they assisted those affected by the fire. In the aftermath of the fire, Pheonix and his classmates have continued to support one another as they process what they experienced. Their actions demonstrate the strength of people coming together in a moment of crisis and the instinct to help others when it matters most. I would like to sincerely thank Pheonix for the courage and compassion he showed that day. His selfless actions reflect an exceptional care for others and a profound commitment to his community.
