Scott Hingston

03 June 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to acknowledge the incredible efforts of Novocastrian and Charlestown electorate local Scott Hingston, who is taking on an impressive challenge this month in support of the Mark Hughes Foundation. Beginning on June 15, Scott will run from Melbourne to Newcastle, covering 86 kilometres a day for 12 days, to raise funds and awareness for brain cancer research. He's aiming to arrive back in Newcastle by June 27, and hopes to get local communities involved along the way as he passes through regional towns. This isn't the first time Scott has put his running shoes to good use. Two years ago, he ran from Merewether to Singleton and back to support the Hunter Valley Bus Tragedy Appeal. As a personal trainer, Scott is passionate about inspiring the young people he coaches and showing them what's possible with a bit of grit and a good cause. His latest run is a testament not only to his endurance, but to his commitment to giving back. I thank Scott Hingston for his efforts and wish him a safe, healthy and successful journey home.
