TechCreate Girls

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—The TechCreate Girls program at Windale Hub, bilyabayi, is inspiring the next generation of female innovators to think big and dream even bigger. Led by Program Lead Claire Chaikin-Bryan, the free 10-week initiative is hosted at the Hub's Fab Lab and welcomes high school-aged girls from across the community. Running through each school term until 2026, TechCreate Girls gives participants the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and digital design in a supportive and creative environment. Through hands-on projects in digital art, wearable technology, bio-art and interactive media, students learn how to merge creativity with innovation. The program not only builds practical skills but also fosters confidence, curiosity and a strong sense of community among its participants. With guidance from expert Fab Lab staff and Saturday access to the lab for additional project work, TechCreate Girls encourages young women to take ownership of their ideas and bring them to life. By nurturing creativity and providing access to new technologies, the program is helping shape a generation of confident, capable and forward-thinking young women in the Hunter.
