Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—Toby Winter's journey from the Dudley Redhead junior ranks to the Newcastle Knights is a wonderful example of where talent, hard work and determination can lead. The 19-year-old homegrown player began 2026 competing in the SG Ball Cup before progressing through to the NSW Cup. He finished the year by achieving a lifelong dream, making his NRL debut in the Knights' 36–26 victory over the Gold Coast Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium. Toby played 40 minutes in front of more than 20,000 fans, becoming Newcastle Knights player number 373. Following the match, he was presented with his debut cap by former Knights captain and Old Boys president Kurt Gidley, making an already memorable occasion even more special. Toby represented the Australian Schoolboys while attending Hunter Sports High School and has also represented New South Wales at under-19 level. Earlier this year, he extended his contract with the Knights until the end of 2029 and joined the club's NRL development list. Congratulations to Toby on this remarkable milestone. Toby's journey is a proud moment for his family, the Dudley Redhead club and our entire local rugby league community.
