Vincent Reay

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Vincent Reay, a remarkable nine-year-old from Cardiff South whose dedication to recycling is making a positive impact on our community and environment. Vincent, who lives with autism, has embraced the Return and Earn program with incredible determination. In just three months, he has collected more than 6,000 cans and bottles, saving them from landfill while raising over $600 towards his goal of contributing to a family holiday to Hawaii later this year. Vincent's initiative has also brought the community together, with many locals donating cans to support his efforts. One generous donation alone saw Vincent collect 3,500 cans, demonstrating the growing support behind his inspiring project. Through this journey, Vincent has learnt valuable lessons about responsibility, perseverance and the value of working towards a long-term goal. His efforts are not only helping protect our natural environment by keeping waste out of landfill and waterways, but are also showing what can be achieved with determination and community spirit. Vincent's enthusiasm and dedication are truly inspiring, and I congratulate him on the difference he is making in our community.
